Intuition und duale Komposition
Meine künstlerische Praxis entspringt einer tiefen Intuition und findet ihre Form in einer dynamischen Balance zwischen spontaner Geste und bewusster Kontrolle. Die Werke werden durch zwei wesentliche Elemente geprägt: den Hintergrund (Landschaft, farbige Flächen) und das Objekt des Motivs (Subjekt). Diese Dualität bildet die Grundlage meiner Komposition. Der Malprozess erfolgt unmittelbar und spontan - ohne vorbereitende Skizzen entsteht die Farbwahl und die Komposition im Moment des Schaffens. Diese scheinbare Improvisation ist jedoch stets von dem Bestreben nach Richtung und Kontrolle begleitet.
Materialität, Geste und Ausdruck
Meine Bilder sind oftmals als Collage konzipiert, die das Motiv oder Subjekt in Beziehung zum Hintergrund setzt. Dieses Spiel mit Elementen erfordert eine kontrastierende Rolle des Hintergrunds zum Objekt und umgekehrt, was das Bild in eine zweidimensionale, konzeptuelle Auseinandersetzung überführt. Die Materialität spielt eine zentrale Rolle. Ich verwende bewusst eine Mischtechnik (Mix-technik), die Ölfarbe mit verschiedenen Trägermaterialien kombiniert, darunter koreanisches Traditionspapier (Hanji) und Leinwand. Die Ölfarbe wird in wiederholten, dicken Schichten (Matiérisme) aufgetragen, um eine fühlbare Textur und materielle Präsenz zu schaffen. Der Hintergrund inspiriert sich oft an natürlichen Landschaften oder persönlich gespeicherten Erinnerungen daran. Das Objekt des Motivs, sei es ein Schiff, ein Baum oder eine winzige menschliche Figur, wird absichtlich klein gehalten, um seine Position und die Stimmung des Hintergrunds hervorzuheben. Die Bildkomposition wird somit zu einem Ort, an dem sich eine Geschichte und ein flüchtiger Moment treffen.
Die Erzählung der Materie
Das Endresultat ist die Sichtbarmachung einer persönlichen, emotionalen Erzählung durch die gestische Freiheit des Abstrakten Expressionismus. Meine Werke sind Ausdruck eines tiefen Fokus auf das Betrachten und die veränderliche Wirkung der Dinge. Durch das Zusammenspiel von spontaner Geste, der schweren Materie und der dualistischen Komposition versuche ich, die dem Betrachter grundlegende existenzielle Erfahrungen und die dadurch verursachte Wirkung und Deutung des Bildes zu vermitteln. Die Leinwand wird zum Schauplatz einer dynamischen Auseinandersetzung zwischen der inneren Welt der Emotion und der äußeren Präsenz der Materie.

Intuition and Dual Composition
My artistic practice stems from a deep intuition, realizing its form in a dynamic balance between spontaneous gesture and conscious control. The works are defined by two essential elements: the background (landscape, planes of color) and the subject of the motif. This duality forms the foundation of my composition. The painting process is immediate and instinctual—the choice of color and composition emerges in the moment of creation without preliminary sketches. Yet, this apparent improvisation is constantly guided by a pursuit of direction and control.
Materiality, Gesture, and Expression
My paintings are often conceived as collages that place the motif or subject in direct relation to the background. This interplay of elements demands a contrasting role between the background and the object, transforming the image into a two-dimensional, conceptual dialogue. Materiality plays a central role in my work. I intentionally employ mixed media techniques, combining oil paint with various supports, including traditional Korean paper (Hanji) and canvas. The oil paint is applied in repeated, impasto layers (matiérisme) to build a tactile texture and physical presence. The background often draws inspiration from natural landscapes or personally stored memories of them. The subject of the motif—be it a ship, a tree, or a miniature human figure—is deliberately kept small to accentuate its presence and the overall atmosphere of the background. Thus, the composition becomes a space where narrative and a fleeting moment intersect.
The Narrative of Matter
The final result renders a personal, emotional narrative visible through the gestural freedom of Abstract Expressionism. My works reflect a deep focus on observation and the shifting impact of things. Through the interplay of spontaneous gestures, dense materiality, and dualistic composition, I seek to convey fundamental existential experiences to the viewer, along with the resonant emotional impact and interpretation the image evokes. The canvas becomes the arena for a dynamic dialogue between the inner world of emotion and the external presence of matter.
